More than 18 distinct works of light art will be on view, among them the Cathedral of Light tunnel, a Fire Garden on Lily Pool Terrace, and the Field of Light, an animated light installation covering Cherry Esplanade and visible from the Robert W. Monumental light installations and colorful light displays highlighting the Garden’s trees, landscapes, and architecture will guide guests through the Garden. Lightscape celebrates the beauty of nature in winter with a festive one-mile trail winding through BBG’s 52-acre landscape, animated by dazzling light, color, and sound. Overall this is a fantastic event and one that I hope comes to the Chicago Botanic Gardens every year. My favorite display and probably the most famous! The cathedral of light is set to gorgeous choral music and makes for amazing holiday scenery. Seeing their faces light up as they played with the color changing ribbons was a highlight. This is the most interactive of the displays and a kid favorite. Set within the Japanese garden this display is gorgeous and so calming to view! Be sure to pick up a hot chocolate and some s’mores! The path is a mile long, stroller/wheel chair friendly, and takes about an hour to walk through.Buying tickets before hand is best if you want to avoid a $2 surcharge.Tickets for children are discounted as well!

Ticket prices vary depending on the time and day of the week that you choose, but the price never goes above $25 per person.

Tickets are timed so make sure to show up at the time slot that you signed up for!.

The event is open between the hours of 4:30 pm – 10:00 pm.

Lightscape runs from November 22 – January 5.
