Topshop has unicorn headbands, pyjamas and nail polish. Unicorns no longer have to be lured from magical forests by pure maidens, you can buy one in two clicks off Asos. There are cuddly toys, fluffy earmuffs, necklaces, glittery stickers, emoji cushions, sparkly pencil cases. Robin is six now and her room’s a paddock of mystical one-horned beasts. If you have a girl under 18 in your family, you’ll know what I mean.
I didn’t realise then how much time I’d spend looking at unicorns over the coming years.
